The geothermal power station will be built in the tram terminal loop on the corner of the Leyweg and the Zuidwoldestraat. In the geothermal power station geothermal heat will be transferred to the distribution network grid via a heat exchange unit. This grid transports the heat to the homes. There is also room set aside in the power station for two boilers. One boiler for back-up in case of disruptions or when there is a high heating demand, such as in the winter. The second boiler will be installed later as a replacement of the boiler now in the Zusterhuis, a few metres further along the street.
