The way geothermal heat is generated to heat homes is different. But what differences do you notice in the house when you are connected to the geothermal heat network? And what are the advantages of geothermal heat in the home?

Geothermal heat in the home
The temperature of the heat from the earth is 70 degrees Celsius. That is twenty degrees lower than the usual temperature for heating. In order to be able to use this lower temperature to the best advantage, all homes that are connected to geothermal heat will have underfloor heating. This has the following advantages:

Underfloor heating ensures overall warmth
Geothermal heat creates less dust because the air circulates less
There is more space in the house because there are no radiators
Individual meter in each home to measure energy use
You never pay more than heating with gas
Where possible you will even pay less
No risk of power failure through the coupling with the geothermal heat and district heating network

Heat Act

Shortly the Heat Act will be brought in. This Act will protect you against swings in the price of heating by fixing heating tariffs.

Connection to the district heating network

In The Hague there is already a district heating network that provides other neighbourhoods with energy. This district heating network and the new geothermal heat network will be coupled so that they can work as a back-up for one another. This coupling takes place in the geothermal power station.

Temporary heat supply

In 2010 Geothermal Heat The Hague will start drilling for geothermal heat, but the first newly built houses will be ready before then. Geothermal Heat The Hague will therefore make a temporary coupling with the district heating network so that these houses can be heated in the meantime. As soon as the geothermal heating is available, the district heating will be replaced by the geothermal heating.
